About

Kia ora. I'm Jayden, I recently started collecting VHS tapes here in Christchurch.

It started the way these things usually do, coming across a box of tapes on TradeMe, finding something I remembered watching as a kid, and feeling that particular pull of recognition and nostalgia. One box led to many more. Then it became a genuine passion, and then a serious collection, and eventually this website.

I love this format for reasons that are hard to fully explain to people who haven't felt it. There's something about the physicality of it the weight of the cassette, the artwork on the sleeve, the specific grain of a picture playing through an old deck, that no digital format has ever replicated. Watching a movie on VHS is a different experience from watching it on anything else. It requires intention. It asks something of you.

I buy, sell, and trade tapes across New Zealand, I'm based in Christchurch.

Beyond trading, I want StreamlessVideo.com to be a genuine VHS resource, the place you come when you want to understand the history of the format, learn about the different types of tapes you might encounter, or read about the era when a video rental store was as essential as the local dairy.

This stuff matters. It deserves to be documented, collected, and celebrated.

If you've got tapes you want to sell, something you're looking for, or you just want to talk about the format, get in touch. I'm always happy to hear from fellow enthusiasts.

Follow along on Instagram and Letterboxd as I watch my way through my VHS collection.

Jayden 👋
